Training careers take off in public and private sectors
(ARA) - From corporations and nonprofits to the government and military agencies, every industry relies on technology to stay competitive and keep things running smoothly.

As industry reliance on technology increases, so does the need for professionals who can effectively analyze training needs, develop instructional materials, and implement training for employees.

In fact, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis released data in April 2008 that indicates strong, continued growth for the information, communications, and technology industries. In addition, learning trends such as the explosive growth of online learning, along with the need for continuous training and improvement of personnel, will continue to open doors to job opportunities.

To help fill this demand, Walden University's Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership now offers an online Bachelor of Science in Instructional Design and Technology degree program.

Current concentrations include:

* General Program

* Business and Organizational Change

* Human Factors and Interface Design

This program provides students the opportunity to develop the skills and practical hands-on experience they need to help them succeed in the fields of instructional design and instructional technology. At the completion of this program, students will be able to:

* Identify their organization's learning needs and effectively use technology to address those needs.

* Design courses across disciplines.

* Apply academic theory and practical experiences to design training programs in higher education, P-12, corporate, or government settings.

"With this program, students will definitely benefit from Walden's expertise as a leading online university," says Victoria Reid, vice president of The Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership. "Walden has an experienced group of instructional designers who have mastered the use of technology in order to provide curriculum that is supportive of cutting-edge learning communities."
