Is your preschooler going to be ready for school?
(ARA) - Today's preschoolers usually giggle at the thought of their parents having been their age once upon a time. But parents can join their children to watch "Sesame Street" together and share with them their memories of watching the show.

That's because for 40 years, "Sesame Street" has been a part of the lives of millions of families across the country and around the globe, helping to teach children language skills, how to use their imagination, and the importance of physical and emotional wellness.

Parents have long known that building toys are a great way for toddlers to develop fine-motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Now, K'NEX has partnered with Sesame Workshop - the nonprofit educational organization behind "Sesame Street" - to create fun and educational "Sesame Street"-themed building sets for children ages 2 to 5.

With the Sesame Street Neighborhood Collection your child can build Elmo and his friends along with buildings and vehicles to create their own Sesame Street town.  The collection includes four different sets:  The Ice Cream Truck Building Set; Police Car Building Set; 123 Brownstone Building Set; and the Police Station Building Set.

If your child is a fan of Elmo, there are two interactive Elmo's World building sets: Elmo's Cowboy Adventure and Elmo's Treasure Hunt Adventure. A voice chip in each of the Elmo sets delivers two Elmo phrases to enhance the play value.

All of the Sesame Street Building Sets include a play-and-learn activity sheet with age-appropriate educational content and additional building ideas for your children to explore. The suggested retail prices of the sets range from $9.99 to $24.99.

What makes the K'NEX toys such a great development tool as well as fun to play with is that they allow children's creativity, curiosity and imagination to flourish, while increasing hand-eye coordination and fine-motor skills.

The right toys, like K'NEX, can promote the development of these skills, enabling your child to gain self confidence and prepare for future success. According to a study by the Center for Applied Research and Educational Improvement at the University of Minnesota, between 60 and 70 percent of children's schoolwork requires fine-motor skills from manipulating objects to handwriting. Children with well-developed fine-motor skills do better in school and in life.

Find out more about the Sesame Street Building Sets from K'NEX, and help your young children improve the skills they need for their school-age years.
